One reason for today's ride was to learn more about the GPS.
The forecast was for temps. to reach near the mid 50's and I would say it made
it that high, "IN ATLANTA". We actually saw snow today along side the
road where it had been plowed and was piled in the shade.
The invitation for this Spur of the Moment ride did not go
out until 9:00 AM yet 4 people replied almost immediately. Sandee Bible, Kelly
Militti, Ned Goodman, Larry Johnson and myself rode our five bikes today. I met
Sandee near the Knox/Jefferson County line. Ned and Larry were waiting on us at
Wendy's at John Sevier Highway and 11E Intersection. Kelly joined us at Hooters
on Kingston Pike. From Hooter's, the GPS took over navigation.
To be honest, I am not sure of all the roads we were on
today. The GPS was set to take us the most direct route which meant a lot
of turns at intersections. It also meant a lot of back roads were traveled, some
of which threatened to turn to solid gravel at any moment.
We meandered up through Lake City onto Rt. 441 and traveled
South over Norris Dam. We did make a brief stop on the river and at the
Overlook. (Did anyone notice the chick sleeping in the Mustang...or was that
just me?) We returned to Knoxville via Broadway where Ned and Larry peeled off
to head for home. Kelly left us on Kingston Pike and Sandee returned to
Morristown when I veered off near my home.
The temps never did get to 53 as forecast but there was more
sun than we anticipated. 5 more degrees would have made it a much better
day....but who can complain? The days are getting warmer and longer. Lotsa bikes
out today.
