Every in Eastern Iowa warned us that there is "nothing in the western part of the state". Civilization is much more sparse. But the countryside is much more beautiful. Be warned if you travel this area on a motorcycle. The Mom and Pop gas stations are spread a little thin and if they would be closed, like at night or on Sunday, you might discover a shortage of life in your bike.
