Up the Ocoee River

Rain, rain go away. That is what I thought about all
day. But actually, it only rained on us very lightly just as we were stopping
for lunch in Ocoee. It rained harder while we were in the restaurant but the
road was dry by the time we came out. Now, let me point out, we saw skies that
looked like they were going to open up any minute, but it just did not happen.
There was even a little blue sky as we were heading home.
We followed Rt. 411 all the way South to Rt. 64 East and up
the river. We stopped at Ocoee Dam #1 and at the Welcome Center for photos.
There were folks everywhere enjoying the whitewater. Kayaks, Canoes and Rafts
were plentiful. So were the buses shuttling folks everywhere.
We continued up 64 to Rt. 68 where we turned North. We
did sidetrack for a few miles off Rt. 68 to go see Fields Of The Wood, "A
Bible Park". Back to 68 North to Tellico Plains where we got on Rt. 360 to
Vonore. Then Route 411 North and everyone split for home.
It was a good day to ride 250 miles and the company was
great. Even though the weather was questionable all day, we saw an unusual
number of bikes. Hundreds actually.
Thanks to Sandee Bible, Larry Johnson and Lee and Julie Gann
for going.
