Impromptu Rides / Mar 28 & 29 (SAT & SUN) - Ride Thoughts
« Last post by Paul2M on March 27, 2015, 08:57:58 am »
SAT -- Had a brief discussion with Jackie about SAT ride to Maynardville and drop into Union County Museum. I NOW THINK another day would be better, but it is a MAYBE.

Jackie's foot is better and he is riding some short errands, etc. It still bothers him to shift gears - plus weather is cool (some would say cold with 31F at 10AM and 44F at 4PM, I say cold was in the past HA!).

SUN -- It is for sure SUN AM Ride (as usual while Betty Churches it). 34F at 10AM and 55F at 4PM is plenty warm :-). So, probably wait until near 10AM to start, local area and be back in area of XIT 407 by around 1 or 2PM.

I understand there is a Bike Show or something going on at Mtn Mtr Sport (Hotdogs or Whatever). So, may stop there before coming home (be fun if any DEMOs - don't know about that).

I would continue the ride, but Betty has other plans Sunday afternoon. GROAN

Any INTEREST, Let Me Know and see if we can work a plan.

I doubt I will do much riding between now and Sunday AM although FRI and SAT are both OK weather wise.  (FRI cool at 23F to 45F, and SAT at 35F to 55F with no rain issues).

I might do something SAT depending on stuff (Especially if SUN prediction gets worse - now is 44F to  54F BUT, 28% rain coverage at noon).

SAT would be a relatively short ride (back home by a little after noon) if I do it. Start sometime near  9AM as 36F by then -- 40F at 10AM. Been a long time since a BKF at What use to Be Rocky Top General Store (if I go out SAT, might stop there). Store is at Point Pleasant, a bit east of White Pines, TN and some decent ride roads over there).

SUN would be a morning ride depends on weather (warm enough to leave at 8:30AM, 44F, and make it to Petticoat Jct for a 9:30AM Country BKF, then visit with the locals). No BKF SUN if I do BKF  SAT.

FRIDAY: The concert at PF Community Center (Air Force Jazz band at 7PM - talk about your Government Defense Spending waste). However, if they 'gonna' do it anyway, might as well join in.

Betty mentioned she wants to do dinner out Friday and not Alamo (not going there anyway on a 1 for 1, I am not that rich). Probably use up some of the Gift Cards we have.

ANY INTEREST - let me know and see if we can work a plan. Otherwise, just do my thing and you do yours. Maybe CYA.

Drives or other Events / Re: Jan 24 to Jan 31 WWW Event in Pigeon Forge
« Last post by Paul2M on January 23, 2015, 03:56:08 pm »
Not saying I will see all these WWW Presentations. Not sure how many Betty will do (not many usually).

I will see more if I can ride down (weather permits). Maybe hit Alamo or Bennett's BBQ on 2 for 1 if someone else wants to.

It is just a list of ones I think I would enjoy (especially, if there for anything else).

I  ** the ones I would like to see more than the others (Surely will miss some of those also as it gets to be too much going back and forth). Also, I ** ** the ones I am almost certain to attend. A lot depends on if I can ride down there as not going to drive back and forth (so, weather is an issue)

I have an event book from Keith - but, total list can be found at

General Chit Chat / 2014 Miles Ridden
« Last post by Paul2M on January 23, 2015, 09:58:10 am »
A guy started a topic (similar) on East TN Bikers. So, I figured mine up - can do as I write down miles and gas used every fill up.

Gas Fill Ups I write down. Burgman 400 and NINJA 500.

Total 27,793     Love Being RETIRED (or is it retarted).

Gas Consumption (Estimate AVE MPG, low side estimate as I do better than that on each bike).
NINJA 9691 / 53mpg =  182.8 Gallon
Burgman 400 18,102 / 60mpg = 301.7 Gallon

$3 (Round off per Gallon) X 484.5 Gallon =  $1453.50

2011 Burgman 400 bought Dec 26, 2013 with 5200 miles on it. Only rode it a few miles in 2013 as did not get Title and Registration squared away until a week or so in JAN of 2014. Filled with Gas Dec 31, 2013 at 5381 miles and on Dec 31, 2014 at 23,620 (Before our Polar Bear Ride).
23,620 -5,381 = 18,102 Miles

2008 NINJA 500 bought in May 2011 with 1000 miles on it.  Jan 1, 2014   43,016 miles (after a fill up from a short ride, so probably did 100 or so that day before fill up and not counting that). Dec 31, 2014 was 52,707 Miles.
52,707 - 43,016 = 9,691 Miles

Saw an article in a MC Magazine (talking mostly about Harleys) about an Oil Filter from K&P Engineering www.kandpengineering.com called a Stainless Steel Micronic Filter.

Let you look up details on their web site if you are interested.

Might not be interested for the price ($149 Machine Finish & $223 for Polished Diamond Cut).

They say not so pricey when you consider you may never have to buy another filter (clean element with any degreaser or soap and water).

Plus, I say, maybe not so pricey when one considers all the other pricey stuff Harley folks add to their machines. (to make 'em run or look pretty) :-)

They say It offers up to 7 times oil flow of paper filters (up to may mean 1 time more - HA!, just joking). It uses a medical grade 304 stainless micronic filter cloth to protect against engine damage and the finned filter case acts as a oil cooler.

PS: Thought I would send info -- I am personally not interested.

Motorcyles / 2015 (New Model) MAXSYM 600 CC 48HP Scooter
« Last post by Paul2M on January 16, 2015, 09:08:25 pm »
Was on BurgmanUSA site reading a post on Changes for the Burgman 400.

A guy in England (I consider knowledgeable) came in with a reply about a new 2015 Maxsym 600 Scooter. He test road it and liked it better or as good as the Burgman 600 and better than his Burgman 400 (both of which he has owned). He did say the 600 might not be quite as fast as the Burgman 650. Burgman 650 clock at about 105 mph -- the video here on the Maxsym shows 160 KM/HR which is 99.4 MPH (INDICATED).

Much cheaper than the Burgman 650. Anyway, sad is not being sold in USA.  :groan
