All trips originate from the Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg , Knoxville or Great Smoky Mountains area unless stated otherwise in the individual trip description. |
| "Day" trips usually start about 8:00 or 9:00 am with a breakfast meeting at one of the local restaurants. We usually cover 100 to 250 miles during the day with several breaks for rest, food and gas. A leisurely pace is set and this is an ideal trip for those folks that do not have "Iron Butts". Whether you are a resident or visiting the Knoxville and Great Smoky Mountains, this is a good way to make new friends while getting to see the area. We avoid traffic and Interstates as much as possible. |
| "Extended" trips are usually 3 or
more days and will be on a long weekend or holiday. Look for a specific
destination to be named and pay particular attention to comments about
average speed, distance and time schedule. These trips could be a 400 mile
trip over four days or 1800 miles in three days. Most likely, a combination
of Interstate and back roads will be traveled. The key to your happiness on
these trips is to carefully read the details. If a large group is expected,
we attempt to get a pickup truck to follow along in case of a breakdown. Trips are usually 3 or more days and will be on a long weekend or holiday. | "Weekender" trips depart on Saturday morning with rare Friday night departures. They are usually 500 - 600 miles round trip and we generally stay near the Appalachian Mountain range. Short sections of Interstate could be used but only when absolutely necessary. Pay particular attention to comments about accommodations. We might be staying in a Four Star motel or roughing it in a campground. |
